Somebody traded in a really old trike at RBR today. I don’t have all the details on it yet, but it’s in sorry shape. It is in dire need of a good clean, tune, and recondition.
But even a beat up old trike can look great with some light behind it.

We have the same tradition every year. Go to Arts Fest, have Chicken-On-A-Stick, walk around to all of the artists’ booths, and buy nothing.
There was the one time we broke tradition to buy a cool walking stick, but other than that, we’ve stuck to our guns.
I showed up about 30 minutes before Brandy and Gareth arrived, so I snapped some shots of the kids playing in the water.

Hot dang, I survived! No computers, no TV, no PSP. I did have my camera, which, technically, is electronic, but other than that, it was a very analog weekend.
The photo there is one of Brandy’s shots. She took the camera for a stroll while I was out in the kayak and came back with some great shots.
Hmm… where to next?

Oh shit… here goes…

Today was my first attempt at kayaking. I’m proud to say that I didn’t flip the boat at all. Of course, the first one I tried was the absolute beginner, totally sluggish, wide as a house kayak. It was quite stable. The second one I took out was a little sleeker, and, accordingly, tough to balance.
Either way, I think I’m going to go buy one of these things and officially take this up as a hobby.

Excuse me for a moment while I test this whole Flickr “Blog This” feature.
It should be noted that this image was shot in my back yard, through a storm door, and is proof that we’re long overdue for mowing our lawn.
What … the … fuck is going on here?
I am a pasty white boy of Scots-Irish descent. The sun is my enemy. My skin turns red in about 45 minutes of exposure, and the only thing higher than my IQ is the level of sunblock I require.
So why is it that I spent last Saturday walking around Bellefonte … in the sun?
Why is it that I will be spending this Saturday at Bald Eagle State Park, learning how to kayak … in the sun?
And what is up with the fact that we (the family) are going to go camping the weekend of the 8th … in the shade? (There will be some sun, I’m sure.)
I haven’t touched my 360 in weeks. I’ve barely touched my PS2.
What the hell, people? What the hell?
My last entry listed my three goals for our Disney World trip. I am happy to say that we accomplished all three.
Our vacation was incredible. If you ever happen to be in the position where you have a kid in a wheelchair and you want said kid to feel really special for a week, go to Disney. The Disney folks went out of their way to make sure Gareth had an unforgettable experience, and so much of WDW is wheelchair accessible (including many rides). A+++, would go again.
I saw Rydain in the office today. I didn’t want to bug her since she was in to talk to some people, but then I heard her yell “Hey Sin!” from the conference room she was in.
So far, nobody has asked me what “Sin” means, so either she explained it or they would rather not know.
I’ll find out this weekend. The family is heading to DisneyWorld on Friday for the last Star Wars Weekend of the season. My goals are simple:
1) To marvel in the presence of Storm/Clone Troopers
2) To help Gareth fight Darth Vader or Darth Maul
3) To get Gareth some face time with R2-D2, his favorite character
I think the occurrence of all three is quite probable.
Since I finished with WinHEC early, I went sightseeing and shopping. As a result, I completely missed the anti-DRM flashmob demonstration that happened outside the convention center.
Damn it all… Why did I have to be in such a hurry to find good chowder??

I would just like to say… I ruled in DDR. But then, most of them had never played before. ![]()
