logo-r2kt-trans.gifSo a bunch of nerds (cool ones) made a life size R2 unit (pink) for a girl with brain cancer.

And now Hasbro is releasing it as an action figure.

Damn, that’s awesome. Check it out.

I’ve been relatively obsessed with the whole bike thing, so I’ve not had anything interesting to post here. There’s no reason everyone else should have to share my wife’s pain in having me go on and on and on about tandems, recumbents, and accessibility.

So here’s some other worthless crud instead.

Every year, the denizens of ShackNews have a White Elephant exchange. For whatever reason, I decided to participate this year. My WE recipient will be getting the following items:

  • Bag of golf tees
  • Halloween skeleton decoration
  • Pavarotti CD (and a CD of some other tenor whose name escapes me)
  • Diamond Monster Sound sound card
  • Netgear RP614 router
  • Linksys 24 port hub
  • EzCam II USB webcam
  • Half-Life 2 Freeman/Alyx poster
  • Quake 2 Strogg figurine
  • Rotating multi-colored light ball
  • Background image from Quake 2

Those last three form the Quake 2 Dynamic Color Lighting Diorama. You place the Strogg figure in front of the background, then place the ball to the side and turn it on. You will then have an accurate representation of the dynamic lighting used by Quake 2.

I was going to box up my Tuxbox (penguin case with neon flashing Tux in the side window), but it was just too big/heavy to send cheaply. Guess I’m in the mood to unload hardware.

I love how I can rant one day about Lucas sticking it to me and then, AND THEN, not two days later, buy games and toys based on his properties.

LEGO Star Wars II is now mine, as are three new figures, and four new Star Wars “kids” figures (though, technically, they’re for Gareth - three troopers and Wedge, I couldn’t resist).

I’m guessing that this is how addictions work.

The unfortunate bit is that the basement is a bit torn up right now as I’m rearranging. The 360 is hooked up to the projector, but the speakers are not yet hooked up. No use playing a game if I can’t hear it, so I will instead have to wait until that task is complete.
