Actually Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty also had a fake beginning that took For-freaking-ever to finish. And after you were done with the “intro”? No more playing as Solid Snake for the whole game.

I’ve since discovered that it might not actually have been 5 hours. It was only last night that I noticed the game time clock continues to count even when the game is paused or in the party configuration menu.

That night, I was reinstalling Windows XP for somebody and had to walk away a number of times. So, really, it was probably only 2.5 hours.
